Horticulture / Agroforestry Intern
Location: (Hybrid) Mzuzu, Malawi

Key Roles and Responsibilities
Support the production and management of tree seedlings and banana suckers in the nursery, ensuring quality standards and proper record-keeping.
Assist in the establishment and management of agroforestry systems and orchards on farmers’ fields, including planting, spacing, mulching, and survival assessments.
Support farmer trainings, field demonstrations, and extension activities, with particular focus on youth and women groups.
Collect, compile, and maintain nursery and field data on seedling production, distribution, and survival for monitoring and reporting.
Promote environmental conservation and sustainable land management practices, including woodlot establishment as alternatives to charcoal-driven deforestation.
Minimum Qualifications
Diploma in Horticulture, Forestry, Agriculture, or a related field.
Basic knowledge of nursery management, plant propagation, or forestry practices.
Willingness to work in rural field conditions.
Good communication and record-keeping skills.
Knowledge or experience with GIS and other Mapping Tools
Strong interest in agroforestry, land restoration, and climate-smart agriculture.
