Role Overview

Swift Digital Finance is expanding its digital financial operations across Malawi in partnership with mobile operators and fintech platforms. The Assistant Systems Support Officer will play a key role in maintaining, integrating, and optimizing the technology systems that power digital lending, payments, and other financial solutions.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and hands-on engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is eager to solve complex system issues, and wants to grow within a digital finance technology team.

Core Responsibilities

Platform Integration & Configuration

Support setup and configuration of product parameters, risk models, and workflows across digital financial platforms.

Assist in managing API/webhook connections with partners and ensuring smooth system integrations.

Participate in onboarding and testing of platform updates and new feature rollouts.

Quality Assurance & Product Testing

Assist in designing and executing user testing scripts for new product rollouts.

Validate transaction flows, data synchronization, and exception handling

Identify bugs and escalate issues clearly to the Systems Support Officer or vendor support teams.

Technical Support & System Operations

Provide first-level troubleshooting for backend systems built using Golang, Python, Node.js, and PHP.

Perform log analysis, process monitoring, and debugging using Linux/Unix command-line tools.

Utilize monitoring and logging platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK Stack for incident response.

Investigate data inconsistencies and write or analyze SQL queries across relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB/Redis) databases.

Test and replicate RESTful APIs using cURL and Postman for debugging and validation.

Support system containerization and deployments using Docker, with foundational knowledge of Kubernetes.

Assist in managing and documenting configurations across core compute and networking services on major cloud platforms.

Documentation & Process Management

Maintain accurate internal documentation of system setups, workflows, and change logs.

Support the development of product manuals, SOPs, and technical FAQs.

Risk & Portfolio Support

Monitor digital service performance dashboards and system health metrics.

Collaborate with the credit team to adjust rules and thresholds as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.

1–3 years of experience in a fintech, software development, or systems support environment.

Hands-on experience in debugging and supporting backend systems (Golang, Python, Node.js, PHP).

Strong understanding of SQL and database management (PostgreSQL/MySQL, MongoDB/Redis).

Working knowledge of RESTful APIs, Docker, and cloud infrastructure.

Familiarity with digital lending workflows and API-driven integrations is a plus.

Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
